Definition of OT role 

OTs work with their clients to overcome the barriers they may be encountering in relation to performing necessary and / or desirable, functional daily life activities. 

These barriers may be due to:

• The person (physical or intellectual disability, ageing, illness, injury, etc.)

• The environment (stairs, lighting, acoustics, isolation, etc.)

• The task (complexity of steps, duration, etc.)

Melanie lives and works on the Fleurieu Peninsula and has been providing a home-based, private Occupational Therapy Service in the region since 2003. She is compassionate, friendly and innovative, showing particular strength with her problem solving abilities.  She has a comprehensive understanding of (and experience with) developing, improving, managing and providing, regional, community-based Occupational Therapy Services to Aged Care clients. She also has extended knowledge, experience (and a professional interest in), providing complex Home Modification assessments and recommendations. 

Melanie loves working as an OT and feels very privileged to be able to help others and share in her clients' lives. Helping others makes her happy and she feels very lucky to have such a rewarding career. She is especially grateful to have worked with so many of our Veterans and their families.
